WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 10TH OCTOBER 2011

To acknowledge world mental day the Niamh Louise Foundation had coffee mornings in venues throughout Armagh and Tyrone to promote positive emotional and mental well being.

Coffee mornings are held weekly at each of our centres within the Niamh Louise Foundation, with the aim to allow anyone feeling isolated, bereaved and lonely or with worrying thoughts of suicide or self harm, to have a chat over a cup of tea or coffee and to talk feely without judgment in confidence.

The coffee mornings provide the space for tears, laughter but more important to feel normal and empower the individuals towards hope, healing and recovery.

Ballymacnab, a community in rural Armagh is well known for their great support to the Niamh Louise Foundation financially over the past few years.  Monies have been raised in the Ballymacnab area through a yearly event called Feile Joe.  To develop the work of the Niamh Louise Foundation, the community hosted its first coffee morning in their community hall on Monday 10th October. A great morning was had by all as everyone chatted about serious events through coffee, teas and homemade scones.  Laughter was injected through the kitchen when stories of the area were discussed and a few home truths came to the fore.

The Niamh Louise Foundation aim in partnership with Ballymacnab is to host a regular coffee morning on the last Friday of each month beginning 28th October 2011 at 10.30am.
