Community Information Support Volunteer

This role exists to provide information about suicide and self harm and the services of the Niamh Louise Foundation in local communities.

Volunteers will typically work on their own with support from staff, manning information stands at health fairs and representing the Niamh Louise Foundation at local events as well as placing our information books in key locations e.g. GP surgeries, dentists, A&E, chemists etc.

The hours for this role are flexible, although some availability during normal office hours (9:00am to 5:00pm) is helpful. The role will require some evening and weekend hours from time to time.

Administration Volunteer

Administration volunteers provide office support at the Niamh Louise Foundation offices in Coalisland, Cookstown or Richhill. Day to day duties include typing correspondence and reports, filing, answering the telephone and photocopying, taking messages. This role would also involve meeting clients and visitors to the centres.

Volunteers will work alongside staff and hours can be arranged to suit (within normal office hours). Volunteers will work on a rota basis.

Fundraising Volunteer

Fundraising Volunteers will assist in the organisation of fundraising events. You just choose something to do from our calendar of fundraising events, or if you prefer, you can organise your own event such as a quiz night, a barbecue, cake sale, coffee morning, concert, bag packing in fact anything at all that takes your fancy.

We will provide you with guidance and anything else you need to know and you will always be supported in your fundraising by the staff and committee.

Volunteer Befriender

Befriending is simply a supported friendship between two people. Vulnerable people may require a befriender as they may have be experiencing mental ill health or poor emotional wellbeing, is isolated feels lonely or has difficulty making social contact for whatever reason.  The person may be at risk of suicide or self harm.

Befriending provides safe, reliable, friendly social contact which brings companionship, interest and fun and adds social normality to a person’s life.

This role will involve meeting your client for 1-2 hours each week and you will provide a listening ear whilst accompanying clients to do their shopping, to take them out of the home, to meet for a coffee or to get them involved in any other activity they might be interested in.

The hours for this role will be flexible to meet the needs of the client.

Befrienders will work with the Niamh Louise Foundation lone workers policy in mind and will be supervised by staff.

Volunteer Driver

A volunteer driver is required to provide a safe and reliable travelling experience for those in the Mid Ulster, Tyrone and Armagh areas who wish to attend the Niamh Louise Foundation Resource centres, bereavement support groups etc but are restricted in terms of travel arrangements.

You will need a full driving licence but you will be provided with transport and full training for the role. This role would suit someone with good timekeeping skills and is comfortable working as part of a team. It will also suit you if you have good communication skills, can show empathy, patience and consideration and you understand the importance of confidentiality.

Drivers hours will vary but will work on a rota system each week.
