SOUTH WEST COLLEGE’S ‘DE-STRESS FEST’

Students at South West College took a break from assignments, projects and studying to attend their very own ‘De-Stress Fest’, which was organised at the Dungannon Campus by second year Business students!  The timing of the event could not have been better, particularly in the run-up to end of year exams and assignment deadlines!

The event was sponsored by Unltd Sport Relief and students were treated to an educational, entertaining and relaxing information session aimed at raising awareness about ways to look after their health and well-being to avoid stress.

The students recruited a number of key organisations, including representatives from Carecall NI and the Niamh Louise Foundation, who shared important advice on minimising stress with the student body.  The Niamh Louise Foundation highlighted the importance of looking after your mental health and raised awareness of suicide and self harm. Students were also given the details of a range of support organisations including Lifeline. Professional masseuses from Stress Solutions provided free massages and a number of comedians opened the session with well-received comedy sketches which focused on stress management.  The students also availed of free healthy snacks courtesy of the College’s ‘Health Promoting College’ initiative.
