The Niamh Louise Foundation is seeking the help of the community to highlight mental health and suicide prevention in our sporting communities. A conference, ‘Tackling Mental Health & Suicide Prevention through Sport’, supported by the Northern Ireland Executive and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure, will be held on Wednesday 29th January 2014 from 7-9pm in the Glenavon House Hotel, Cookstown.
We invite anyone who may be interested to attend the conference and make your voices and needs heard. The Niamh Louise Foundation will gather information shared on the night and present it to the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure in order to help shape the future direction of incorporating mental health with physical health in the sporting community.
During the conference we will hear from local sporting organisations and their experiences with mental health and suicide prevention. Guest speakers will include the Irish Football Association’s Head of Marketing & Communications Geoff Wilson, Killymoon Rangers FC Cookstown player Steven McElhatton, and a local teacher and football coach.
Anyone wishing to attend the conference can register with the Foundation by calling 028 8775 3327 or emailing info@niamhlouisefoundation.com.
