The work we do here at the foundation is livesaving, but with no government funding we rely on grants and the good will of the community to keep our doors open.

We want to nourish people’s mental health and wellbeing in the workplace, in the prevention of suicide, as mental ill health is the single biggest cause of absence in the workplace.

‘Breaking the Silence’ is specifically geared towards employers who understand how vital it is to look after their team, and we would like you to be part of this venture by becoming a Friend of Niamh Louise.

We were delighted to welcome Mid Ulster District Council Chairperson, Dominic Molloy to our official launch, alongside Linda Dillon MLA and Briege Cavanagh from the The National Lottery Community Fund Northern Ireland, as well a various local employers and community groups.

When you sign up to become a Friend of Niamh Louise there are benefits to you as an employer and there are benefits for your employees.

We can offer:

  • Bespoke training for up to 20 managers/supervisors/team-leaders in mental health, self-harm and suicide prevention – up to 2 hours per session.
  • One to one intervention and support for employees in emotional distress, or with thoughts of suicide and self-harm, or who have been bereaved by suicide.
  • Follow up care with the team at the Foundation through mentoring, complementary therapy sessions such as reflexology, art, and talking therapies.

For additional investment we can offer:

  • Public Health Agency certified Mental Health First Aid Training which trains participants to offer help to a person developing a mental health problem or who is in a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves – 2-day training (9.30am – 4pm) – to a minimum of 10 and maximum of 20 individuals. Cost of £1200 (plus travel if required).
  • Niamh Louise Foundation general awareness session on mental health, self-harm and suicide prevention – can be offered to staff members in larger groups – up to 1 hour per session. Cost of £160 per session (plus travel).

There are no time restrictions with being a Friend of Niamh Louise. By investing in your team’s mental health and wellbeing, the delivery of our programme, per annum, costs £1,500.
